*Mable is a grandmother that found herself taking care of her 9 grandchildren from her two daughters. They range in age from 11 to infant, and they all came to her in less than a year. Mable was completely overwhelmed when she began caring for her grandchildren, who all arrived in a short period of time, but knew she could not turn them away.
Through on-going case management and our St, Martha’s Baby Project's mother’s classes, she has found new ways of looking at the daily occurrences of a large family. We have given her referrals to other agencies that have been able to help her family find the stability that they need. Mable enjoys coming to the mother’s group because it is a time for her to learn new things and exchange ideas with others. Mable comes to the food pantry each month and attends the classes offered at CCS. The cooking classes have really been a blessing for Mable as she is finding ways to cook that are healthy, but also involve the children in the cooking experience. Mable has commented that we have offered her kindness and love as well as material items that help her in her new journey as being the caretaker of her nine grandchildren.
